Summer 2012: BBC Newsletter

Greetings All!  We hope you are all keeping cool at your backyard slip and slides!

"Kind of New" News:  If you're not on Facebook, you may not have heard that, beginning in June, BBC has been joined by fiddler extraordinaire, Deirdre Lockman.  Unfortunately, the demands of Kat's recent job promotion limited her availability for BBC activities, but we have been lucky enough to find an amazing talent to complete our lineup!

We have a wonderful connection with Deirdre.  She was Rose's first Celtic fiddle-style teacher, beginning in 2002, when the girls were just 12 1/2 and 14 years old.  Deirdre has been a long-time member of the Lockman Family Musicians and Dancers from Telford, PA.   She fiddled, sang and danced with her mom, dad, and six brothers and sisters at many regional venues, and was a multiple first place trophy winner at the Celtic Classic fiddle competitions.

We welcome Deirdre for upcoming shows!

Upcoming Shows!

 Tomorrow:  Friday, July 27, 2012

The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase

The Emerging Artist Showcase runs from Noon to 4:30 pm on the Main Stage

Burning Bridget Cleary is Act #16 (approximately 2:45 pm)

The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

44 County Route 7D

Hillsdale, NY 12529

We are one of 24 acts to play at this popular afternoon showcase.  Every act gets 10 minutes to strut their best stuff and impress the crowd.  If the audience likes what they hear, then some of the acts will be invited back in 2013 for Falcon Ridge's 25th Anniversary Folk Festival.  Sounds like a blast!  Come on out and cheer us on.

After the Main Stage music ends at midnight, you will also find us doing some crazy-late, campground jams.  Look for us at the Budgiedome "stage" at 1 am on Friday overnight.  Then we'll be sliding down the hill to play a spot at the Acoustic Music Scene Late-Night Song Swap at 1:30 AM.  Weeee! Thanks to Gordon Nash and Michael Kornfeld, Vice President of NERFA (North East Regional Folk Alliance) for inviting us to take part!

More Good News:  At least a dozen different websites have featured Burning Bridget Cleary's music, video, or CD reviews over the past couple of months.  Check out some of these Celtic music websites:

Irish Music Forever: (Nottingham, England) Posted our video and wrote an original article about the band.

Parting Glass Media: This site posts live music podcasts and information about great Irish pubs.  They featured BBC as "Artist of the Month".

Celtic Beat Magazine:  A New England-based print and online magazine that keeps you up to date with a comprehensive calendar of Celtic events on the East Coast of the U.S.  They featured a review of "Totes for Goats".

The Celtic Crier:  Dedicated to keeping the music and history of our Celtic ancestors alive.  They posted an article on the band under "Celtic Folk" and posted our music video.

In the "Wild and Wacky" Category:  A middle school teacher in Jersey Shore, PA (who named that town?) created a science video on how to make water bottle rockets, using the newest BBC single, "Stor Mo Chroi" as the background music.  It has already "made a big splash" with over 5,000 views!  See it here.

Thanks to all our friends who came out to "Our Times Coffee House, Celebrate Lancaster, and the Celtic Fling!  We hope to see the rest of you soon!  Bring your water bottle rockets.

Love and Cheer,

Rose, Deirdre, Lou and Pete
